The 8th Anniversary of New Hope was awesome!! It was "paniolo" (cowboy) themed. It was a beautiful day with lots of great food, entertainment, and people sharing the joy of the Lord. My CD was supposed to be available for sale, but unfortunately it didn't come in. There must be a good reason...
I particularly loved the Bluegrass music. Pastor Wayne is quite a banjo player. More than anything, I loved the way everyone got to hang out together so casually. New Hope is known for putting on BIG productions. Although this one was still pretty huge, I felt more connected to everyone because of the casual feel of the event. That's not easy to do in a church as big as ours. Can you believe it's grown to 12,000 people in 8 years?
So where's the CD? I wish I had an answer. Honestly, my faith tells me that God really wants me to focus on being there for my sister, and I'm okay with that. It will be out before we know it, but for now, I will gladly cheer Kanoe on with all my heart. She's awesome! By the way, Miss America is right around the corner. Watch it on Sept. 20 on ABC. Go Kanoe!!

sorry i missed the performance.. im sure you guys were awesome as usual.. tty soon!
Dear Maila,
You and Ben were great yesterday. My son had a fun time. He must have gone on the Tsunami Slide a hundred times and in the Bounce House at least ten. Yes it's hard to believe our Church has grown so fast. I know it is God's Hands at work. Your CD will come out in God's Time and will sell well. Your voice is soothing to my ears and your lyrics come straight from your heart. Hopefully, I can get you to sign it for my son. He would be Stoked! I'm glad you are using your God given talent in a positive way. You make our Church very proud. We will continue to pray for you and Kanoe. She will represent our Church and State well. I just know she's gonna bring the crown back home. May God Bless you and your family.
Your Brother in Christ,
Kani Dougan
Hey Maila, you did great as always. It was so nice to see you. Can't wait to see Kanoe on TV for Miss America. Russell put a lil thing on his site for Kanoe I saw it on his main page yesterday =) Take Care...
Posted by: Jane at September 8, 2003 10:32 AMCongrats to you Maila in all of your achievements! Can't wait to meet up with you in Atlantic City. You've been a very supportive sister to Kanoe and that is why you girls have been able to do all that you do. You support each other! You both are stars! I wish you both the best of luck in all that you do. See you soon.
