I just came back from New Orleans, and may I say, there's no place like home in Hawaii! New Orleans was a place I always wanted to visit. I often dreamt of eating Jambalaya, taking pictures of old, French architecture, and strolling down Bourbon Street while saxophones and guitars colored the night blue.
My dreams came true last week and my expectations were exceeded. My tastebuds bursted with joy everyday (and so did my jeans' button). My camera quickly filled up with pictures of old buildings and the Mississippi River. To say the least, I had a great time. However, amidst all the history and flavor which we have in Hawaii as well, nothing beats the aloha spirit of the people here. I am so blessed to call Hawaii home. I encourage everyone to get out and travel, eat new things, meet new people, but most of all, to deepen appreciation for home-wherever that may be.
Anyway, now that I'm back, I'm ready to begin my second recording project. I've had lots of inspiration in the past 6 months. I hope to make this project a little more island contemporary, yet still inspirational. We'll see what kind of formula my producers and I come up with. Nevertheless, traveling to the south, a place that's totally different from Hawaii in every way, inspired me to write songs of appreciation about Hawaii, its people, and the God that created it all.
