Surprises

Last night I went to see Maila and Ben at Kincaids to relax a bit and kick back since I was so bored at home. To everyones surprise, Miss Hawaii, Kanoe showed up with a bunch of her friends. Kanoe treated us to "Natural Woman" and she and Maila did a duet of the "Disco Medley". Kanoe was awesome!

I also finally picked up my copy of Mai's CD! I am so happy I finally have the real thing in my hands! The artwork and liners are great! Love the back cover as well. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, whataya waitin' for??? Go get one! It's available at Borders, Tower Records and I'm sure other places as well. I will be working to get the CD for sale online for our mainland friends soon!

If you have some free time tonight check out Mai and Ben at Kincaids TONIGHT, Saturday, September 27 at 8:30pm! Never know whos gonna show up! I had a blast!

Back Home

Was Miss America fun or what? Kanoe was the bomb. My sister, Moki, and I have money on it that she'll be called for a reality show. Maybe she'll be the next Bachelorette? Survivor? Anyway, she's very happy to be home and I must admit, I'm happy she's home too. Let me clarify something as well: she does know what "bling-bling" is. Apparently, her finger slipped and pressed the wrong button. If you'd like to see lots of Miss America pics, go to: Miss America

She was definitely the crowd favorite. Everyday, she was in the Philadelphia and Atlantic City papers. It's beyond words how exciting it was.

The train doesn't stop here now that we're home. The media frenzy has been crazy, but fun. The cool thing is that we're tag teaming since my CD is coming out TOMORROW!! Both of us sang on KGMB and they gave a great plug to the CD. God really knows what he's doing. Had my CD come out any earlier or later, his work wouldn't have been as effective. I'll write more about that later.

Thank you for the prayers and support. It's great to be home and to have our girl home.

New York, New York

"Start spreading the news. I'm leaving today..."

I can't believe I'm finally going to New York. I'll be gone for 10 days so you probably won't be hearing anything new from me for a while. However, I'll try to write updates on Kanoe. Don't forget, Miss America is Saturday, September 20. Watch it on ABC. Thank you for all the prayers and support.

Happy 8th Anniversary New Hope!

The 8th Anniversary of New Hope was awesome!! It was "paniolo" (cowboy) themed. It was a beautiful day with lots of great food, entertainment, and people sharing the joy of the Lord. My CD was supposed to be available for sale, but unfortunately it didn't come in. There must be a good reason...

I particularly loved the Bluegrass music. Pastor Wayne is quite a banjo player. More than anything, I loved the way everyone got to hang out together so casually. New Hope is known for putting on BIG productions. Although this one was still pretty huge, I felt more connected to everyone because of the casual feel of the event. That's not easy to do in a church as big as ours. Can you believe it's grown to 12,000 people in 8 years?

So where's the CD? I wish I had an answer. Honestly, my faith tells me that God really wants me to focus on being there for my sister, and I'm okay with that. It will be out before we know it, but for now, I will gladly cheer Kanoe on with all my heart. She's awesome! By the way, Miss America is right around the corner. Watch it on Sept. 20 on ABC. Go Kanoe!!

Sneak Preview - What If It's True?

What If It's True wraps up Maila's new album More. Makes me say gimme more! I'll be posting all the clips on one page soon in order to make it easier for new visitors to check out Maila's music and read the entire interview. Thanks for sticking around for the last song loyal bloggers!

Well we are just about done with this interview... just one more song...

What If It's True was actually something I had seen on TV in commercials the past year when New Hope was doing a media push. Whats the story behind the song and how it tied in with what New Hope was doing?

Maila: Ben and his wifeJosie wrote this song. He was giventhe topic, "What If It's True," by PastorWayne in congruence withthe2000New HopeEasterservice.Someone gave a great testimony about how he always wondered whether God was real or not. After survivingbeing robbed, shot, and left to die, he actually heard the Lord confirm that his job on Earth was not yet finished. The song tied in perfectly with the entire service. Many people gave their hearts to Jesus that year. The song was never intendedfor recording, but because so many people were touched by it, there was a demand for it. We recorded it shortly afterEaster and sold the single for just $5.00.Inside, the liner notes offered an invitation to get to know Jesus. The song was purely intendedfor outreachand ministry. It's a special song. Having it on my CD is more of an opportunity to reachpeople for Jesus.

I know your album is gonna do great! I can't wait to get the entire packaged CD, along with everyone else thats been reading this. Thanks for doing this interview with me. It's been so much fun learning about where you come from, what you are interested in music wise and how the Lord has touched your life.

Maila:Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me and for allowing me to share my heart. It's been so fun!!
