Kanoe and me at the Second Chance Prom-a fundraiser for Hearts in Motion and IHS. Kanoe was auctioned off as a dream date for $500! Wow!!
Sorry I haven't updated in a while. That's how you know I've been swamped! Life has been very kind to me lately though. Let's see, the Second Chance Prom was great. It was at the Sheraton Waikiki and Ben and I performed along with Kanoe. It was great to see couples all dressed up. If I didn't have to sing at it, I would've gladly attended!
The day before that, I did a Music With a Message assembly at Niu Valley Middle School. That was a lot of fun. I'm very passionate about anti-smoking, especially among children and teens. National recording artist, One Voice, performed as well. They're cute Filipino girls from the Bay Area. I really hope to see Asians emerge soon on a national scale, especially ones from Hawaii. Maybe the "She Bangs" guy from American Idol and Camille will pave the way!
Friday morning I was on KHON at 5:30am. Whoa...that was an early one. Sorry for not letting you all know. I had my dates mixed up and by the time I realized when I was actually scheduled, it was too late to update my blog. I'm surprised that so many people saw it. I just can't believe people are actually up that early! Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Kirk Matthews, Tannya Boyd, and Trini Kaopuiki were very hospitable to me.
I've been re-decorating my bedroom. I'm embarrassed to say, but I've never really decorated my room since I've lived where I live. I never really knew how long I'd be here, so I never decorated. Well, 4 years later, I'd say it's time!! I watched Oprah one day and it was all about decorating. I felt a little convicted afterwards because all the ugly rooms they showed looked like mine! Yuck! They talked about how important it is to take care of your sanctuary. The way a person cares for their domain says a lot about them. My problem was that I never saw myself worthy enough to decorate. I'd rather spend money on clothes, shoes, bags...things people can see rather than what they can't see. Sounds a little shallow huh? The point is, it's just as important to care for the things only you can see. Now that I've done it, I feel so good. I painted my room pink. That's the first time I've ever painted and let me tell you, painting is such therapy! I'm totally in the groove, so that's why I haven't updated my site. I've even been making my own decorations and searching thrift stores and garage sales. It doesn't have to cost a lot. That was another one of my problems. I always thought it was too expensive to decorate and not worth it. Anyway, if you're like me and have never put time and energy into your haven, just do it!! You'll be amazed what it does for your soul. You're worth it!!

Gordon Biersch, Feb. 6-Brother To Brother reunion (Rod Esteban, Johnny Kamai, Blaise Sison, Ben Vegas)
It was a very busy weekend starting with the Brother to Brother Reunion at Gordon Biersch on Friday night. It was so nice having Blaise in town from Las Vegas. He plays bass at Caesar's Palace and used to play with Ben and me. The place was jam packed because of the Pro Bowl block party. More pictures are posted...
Saturday, Kanoe, Ben, and I headed to Kauai for the Jamba Juice/Starbucks grand opening. We loooove both of those places and I'm so happy they're finally on the island! We took a picture with Roxy Girl-Carissa Moore. What a sweet girl!
Us with Roxy Girl-Carissa Moore
That night, Kanoe emceed the Halau Hula 'O Leilani Ho'ike and Ben and I performed. It was a busy day, but such a blessing. Hula was once a big part of my life and I'm always thankful for opportunities to connect with it again.
The next day, we flew home for the Pro Bowl where Kanoe presented leis for the Hall of Fame players. One of them was John Elway. Barry Sanders was supposed to be here, but didn't make it (shucks!). We had great seats, but only stayed for the first quarter. We both got harrassed so much that day by a bunch of crazy, drunk guys. Then, Kanoe got mobbed for photos and we were like, "Okay, time to go!" I probably would've stayed under other circumstances. We were both so tired and fell asleep as soon as we got home. Sorry I don't have any pics of Kanoe on the field. I took some, but it's kind of hard to see the details. Anyway, that was my weekend! Hope everyone had a great one too!
Come on down to Gordon Biersch tonight, 5:30-9. Ben Vegas, Blaise Sison, Johnny Kamai, Rod Esteban, and myself will be outside having a Brother to Brother/5:05 reunion. It's also the Pro Bowl block party so it should be lots of fun!!
By the way, I'm in this month's issue of Sassy Magazine promoting being tobacco free. I'll post more details as soon as I figure out how!!
