Brunch On The Beach was so much fun!
Justin Kawika Young
The Band-Ben Vegas, Rod Esteban, Little Albert
I highly suggest doing Brunch On The Beach if you get a chance. I think the next one will be the first weekend of May. Kalakaua Avenue is turned into an intimate, outdoor cafe with tables and umbrellas and green turf is layed on the street (so it's not blazing hot).
It was great seeing Justin perform. I recorded with him years ago on his "Soothe You" album. It's neat to see an artist evolve and grow. He's incredibly talented.
We had fun performing for all the tourists and locals. God blessed us with one of the most beautiful, Hawaiian days in a while. The food was delicious and cheap! I've really learned to appreciate Waikiki. It's a little crazy and touristy, but I like to go there and think back to the days when there weren't high rises and the beach wasn't as crowded. Seeing it the way it is today doesn't make me mad though. If Waikiki wasn't something special, people wouldn't want to wander its streets or frolick in its waters. I often think about how many honeymooners go to Waikiki and how many people fall in love there. I also think about how many people save for a lifetime for the chance to visit Waikiki, even for just a few days. We're so blessed to have it right in our backyard, for free.
So, I encourage you to take a good look around every once in a while at where you live as though you're seeing it for the first time. There's always something new to see. There's always something to be thankful for.
This Sunday, I'll be performing at Brunch on the Beach in Waikiki. It's from 9am-1pm. I'm on stage at 11:30 with Ben Vegas and Little Albert. Justin Young will follow. If you're looking for something different to do, this sounds perfect. I've honestly never been to any of the Sunset or Brunch events, but I've heard they get a lot of people. Brunch on the Beach totaled 13,000 people last year! Come down for great, cheap eats! FREE ADMISSION.
Here are some photos of my life in the past couple of weeks.
Celebrating the "big win" (Hawaii Music Awards) at Kobe Steakhouse the day I found out. Thank you so much for voting!
Bosco and Rudy, my sister's dog and cat who love eachother so much! There's a lot of love in my family, even among the animals. I visited my Missouri family recently. Unfortunately, this is the only family picture I took. It was a very busy trip.
Reunion with my high school friends.
Horsebackriding at Princeville Ranch on my birthday.
We parked our horses, hiked to this waterfall, and went swimming.
A couple we met from Boston who just got married. So cute!
Anyway, thanks for letting me share. I have so many wonderful people in my life who I am very grateful for and so proud to share with everyone. Rhonda and Troy, thank you for making my birthday so special.
Hey! Sorry I havent updated in a while. As soon as I get a freer moment, I'll post some new pictures and elaborate on what's going on. It's a lot! In a nutshell, I was in the mainland for a week with my family. It was great to see them. Thursday, I celebrated my birthday on Kauai. My friends took me horsebackriding and it was one of the most adventurous days I've had in a long time. By the way, thank you to all of you who voted on the Hawaii Music Awards. I'm still in shock that I won and I know I owe it to all of you who support and encourage me. Anyway, it's great to be home!
